At Friedman Real Estate, giving back is a shared mission across our team. Today, we had the honor of volunteering with the Michigan Urban Farming Initiative (MUFI) — a 100% community-funded nonprofit based in Detroit’s North End.
MUFI is a leader in using urban agriculture to drive education, sustainability, and community development. Their campus includes a working urban farm, indoor and outdoor gardens, a sensory garden, and a recently transformed commercial property that now serves as housing for their interns—an inspiring example of reinvestment in the local neighborhood.
During today’s volunteer event, Friedman team members assisted with:
-
Planting and weeding garden beds
-
Tending to herbs and crops
-
Building and maintaining flower beds
-
Working in the indoor and sensory gardens
-
Supporting improvement efforts in the commercial space
Our team worked hard—and it paid off. In just one day, Friedman volunteers were able to complete what would typically take MUFI around three weeks to accomplish. It was an incredible demonstration of teamwork and the power of collective effort.
In addition to our hands-on involvement, we were proud to present MUFI with a $2,500 donation from the Friedman Employees’ Charity of Choice fund. This contribution reflects the passion of our team for supporting organizations that are making a measurable impact in the communities where we live and work.
We’re grateful to MUFI for the opportunity to contribute to their mission and to witness firsthand the incredible work they’re doing to uplift Detroit’s North End.
